Week 5: Post Reach/Engagement & Insights

What is Post Reach & Post Engagement?
-Post Reach is the number of unique people who have seen my post on Facebook—they may or may not click it, but it will show up on their newsfeed.
-Post Engagement is the percentage of people who did something with my post—liking, sharing, or even just clicking on it.

Why is it important to know the difference?
While it’s great that someone saw my post, it is far more important that someone actually does something with my post. It’s more beneficial to me (if I’m trying to get a product or service out, for example) if someone shares or likes my post.

What is Facebook Insights and how can a business use it to better serve their customers?
Insights is a tool that provides measurements of a page’s performance—it measures how many people are visiting it for example, or what they are doing on my page while they are visiting it. It also provides demographic data such as age, gender, and location. Taking this into consideration then, it means that a business can use this data to gauge which products/services are doing well (and not so well) and which demographics they should be focusing on in order to gain more customers. A business can use this to focus their time and effort on what works.
