Week 8: Visual Social Media

Four most popular social media visual platforms for business:

Youtube: Youtube is a service that allows people to upload videos of nearly anything (granted that it is not sexually explicit). Businesses can use Youtube as a platform to broadcast showcase videos of their products/services to literally millions of viewers across the world. Videos are easy to produce and the cost is low to nil.

Instagram: A social media sharing site that allows users primarily to share photos (or videos) with other users. Businesses have taken advantage of Instagram by using it to connect with their customers and showcase new products or let their customers submit ideas of their own.

Tumblr: A blogging service; unlike traditional blogs however, Tumblr is not very verbose in the way information is shared. Users post images / videos of their content instead of writing about it, so it is a service that is more suited towards publishers / advertisers / or other companies that largely focus on the visual aspect of their product.

Pinterest: Similar to Instagram or Tumblr, but allows the user to be verbose while remaining visual about their product. Great for businesses / people that need to showcase their product while also being able to explain what this product is and how it is used.

My (fictional) business, being a cafe / coffee shop might work best with Instagram. I could use this service to showcase new drinks, to connect better connect with my customers, and even to have them be able to share their ideas with me on how to improve my services or products.
