How much time should my business spend on social media?
I believe that my business should be prepared to spend a good deal of time on social media. My business's reach will likely be determined by how active I am on social media -- tools such as Facebook allow me to reach to and interact with literally thousands of people who are interested in the types of goods/services that I offer. Spending time with these tools will allow me to reach a much broader / larger customer base than if I were simply churning out television or newspaper ads.
Which tools will I use?
I will primarily use Facebook. The promotion options that it has -- the ability to filter my promotion/ads by customer demographics makes my advertising much more effective. On top of that, Facebook allows me to keep in touch with my customers and to interact with them; it allows my customers to submit feedback or ideas which in turn allows me to improve my business. Other tools that I will likely use will include Pinterest and blogs. Pinterest is a social media site that lets me post images with descriptions and allows users to post feedback. This would be a great tool present new drinks, post about events, or just let potential customers check out my venue. Blogs are also a great way to keep customers updated about future events. As a strategy over the next six months, I would use Facebook to promote my business, providing a small amount for the advertising budget. I will use it to reach customers that are local and are interested in my type of business. I will use Pinterest and blogs to help promote my Facebook -- so that I may procure more likes / activity for my business FB page.
Rough draft plan for my next month of content:
Using Facebook / my blog, I would post content about drinks that we are / will be serving. Every two or three weeks, I'd like post information about events that will be taking place -- raffles, free drink days, book-reading, etc. By keeping up-to-date about what we are serving, I hope to make the impression that we are highly active, hopefully encouraging customers to check us out. Also, by interacting with customers frequently, I hope to create a loyal customer base that I can rely on to provide valuable feedback about my cafe. I can use this feedback to improve on aspects that need it and also to inject new ideas / recipes / events into our repertoire.
